WRINGING OUT THE TOWEL

Living a spiritually driven life is an ongoing course of development and personal growth. Walking the path of progress requires learning better, more positive ways of being. Ways that allow us to LOVE the self and others unconditionally. Ways that open us up to purpose and fulfillment. To accomplish this feat we must release everything that no longer serves us in a positive way. A spiritual emancipation liberating us from fears, worries, concerns, anxieties, self-doubts, stresses, and negativities. Many will be found just under the surface and discarded with ease. But, as we go within, releasing that which has rooted itself deep in our subconscious (abuses, abandonment etc.) the process becomes more difficult and requires patience, courage and determination. A good friend gave me the perfect metaphor for this experience, which I now refer to as: Wringing Out The Towel..

A common misconception in spiritual and personal growth is that it will get easier as you go. I believe this to be the source cause for most individuals who abandon this process. Discouragement builds up as it becomes more and more difficult to release old patterns and behaviors. In order to release one’s self of all that no longer serves in a positive way the negative emotions must be allowed to bubble to the surface and be acknowledged. Awareness is crucial. You must grant yourself access to experience them and then release them with LOVE. This requires forgiveness of yourself and others and acceptance that your life experiences have not made you LESS but in fact have made you MORE! As one attempts to heal the deepest of scars this idea is most burdensome to reconcile.

This process is just like a soaking wet towel. When you first pick it up and twist water comes racing out; half of the water is gone in one simple twist. You experience a sense of instant relief for little effort. It is uplifting and rightfully so. However, as you continue you must twist the towel harder. Less water is released and each turn becomes more difficult, exhausting and demanding. As you near the end it seems almost impossible to remove the last bit of water from the towel. Muscles strained, mind taxed to its limit, no apparent end in sight. Discouragement lives and breathes in moments like this. The deepest roots are always the last to be pulled from the ground and they hardly ever go without a fight.

Just as with the towel, the process of release becomes difficult because you are on the right track. Do not throw in the towel when you are so close to being free! When you find yourself in challenging circumstances or feel that your will has begun to waiver repeat this affirmation:

I AM A WARRIOR OF LIGHT AND LOVE
THE FIGHT IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE I AM WINNING THE BATTLE
MY STRENGTH IS INFINITE, MY WILL IS UNBREAKABLE
BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN MYSELF, EVERYTHYING IS POSSIBLE
MY DESIRE IS TO BE FREE AND I WILL NEVER GIVE UP
THERE IS NO OBSTICLE IN THE UNIVERSE THAT WILL PREVENT ME FROM FULFILLING THIS PROMISE TO MYSELF
AMEN!

Light, LOVE, and blessings -Rob
